Dartmouth-Hitchcock exemplifies the power of the #incredibleblendable burger! After a taste test of their new blended burger recipe, they asked their patrons whether they would like to see it on their regular menu. The answer: a resounding YES!

Over 40 healthcare facilities across the country celebrated Nutrition Month by serving burgers comprised of ground meat blended with mushrooms (or other plant-based ingredients). Some created their own blend using a recipe from the Mushroom Council. Others purchased pre-made blended meat products that have sustainability attributes such as meat raised without routine antibiotics, grass-fed beef and locally produced ingredients.

The hamburger is an American tradition but healthcare professionals know that eating too much red meat can have health consequences.  Too much meat can also have negative impacts on the environment - causing air and water pollution and contributing to climate change.  The James Beard Foundation developed this innovative strategy to reduce our consumption of meat while still enjoying the burgers we love. A recent Journal of Food Science study found that consumers prefer blends over 100% ground beef.
