Hurricane Harvey

  • US & Canada

The Health Care Without Harm community would like to take this opportunity to express our deepest condolences to the individuals, families, and communities affected by Hurricane Harvey. We are especially grieved by the lives that have been lost and the many others who have suffered the loss of their homes and livelihoods.

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the health professionals and first responders who, throughout the storm and often at great risk to themselves, continued to offer care to their patients and to rescue those in harm’s way. We are truly inspired by the spirit, courage, and care of those individuals working tirelessly to help one another.

As global temperatures rise, we can expect storms like Hurricane Harvey to be more frequent and more intense. We remain committed to reducing our own contribution to climate change and to working together with our community of health providers to decarbonize the health care sector. The sadness we feel from seeing the suffering caused by Hurricane Harvey only strengthens our resolve to continue our work to build a sustainable and resilient health care system in the United States.

Our thoughts and prayers will continue to be with those affected as the hard work of rebuilding begins. If you would like to contribute to the relief effort, here is a list of organizations accepting donations for Hurricane Harvey victims.
