Driven by our healing mission, we have a responsibility to protect our patients, families, and communities from the health impacts of climate change.
At times it can feel like the odds are against us. We have experienced four devastating hurricanes in seven weeks. We are wrestling with state-sponsored climate denial as evidenced by the U.S. withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accord and the recent repeal of the Clean Power Plan. And every day, at health care facilities around the world, we witness firsthand the health consequences of our continued reliance on fossil fuels, toxic chemicals, and unhealthy foods.
However, where there is crisis, there is also hope. Moving beyond feeling overwhelmed, we need to express our commitment to an equitable, sustainable future. Health care is one of the most trusted messengers in civil society and it is our obligation to repay that trust by investing in clean power, by accelerating the development of healthy, local food systems, and by leading the development of healthy and resilient communities.
For 20 years, Health Care Without Harm has led the health care sector in expanding our healing mission and rethinking how we can protect the health of our communities within this climate change reality we now face. Today, the urgency of our work has never been greater. However, we cannot do this alone. Please click below to learn how you can help.
Your financial support will enable Health Care Without Harm to continue to inspire and teach health care professionals, advocate for clean energy and healthy food policies, and build healthy and resilient communities. We hope you will stand with us and help lead health care and the rest of society toward a healthy, just, and sustainable future.
