CleanMed Europe 2016 Has Arrived

From October 19 to 21 the city of Copenhagen will be host to CleanMed Europe 2016. The meeting is the only European conference on sustainability within health care. CleanMed Europe 2016 will explore and address the environmental impact of the healthcare sector on a local, regional, and global level. Sustainability and healthcare innovators will share new practices and approaches as well as reveal cutting-edge products and services throughout the event during presentations, workshops, and announcements.

Healthy & Sustainable Food in Health Care Pledge launched at CleanMed Europe 2016

[October 25] Two days after World Food Day 2016, on Tuesday 18th October, Health Care Without Harm (HCWH) Europe organised the first ever European Workshop on Sustainable and Healthy Food in healthcare. During the workshop HCWH Europe launched its Healthy and Sustainable Food in Health Care Pledge, which was signed at the workshop by Gentofte Hospital and Herlev Hospital from Copenhagen who have recently merged. CleanMed Europe 2016 Day Three Round-Up

[October 22] The final day of CleanMed Europe 2016 began with a wide range of parallel sessions where participants shared ideas and best practices on a wide range of topics including pharmaceutical management, waste management strategies and increasing education through leadership in the clinical environment. One of the parallel sessions focused on ‘Energy Efficiency Policies in the Healthcare Sector’ and participants embarked on a lively and inspiring exploration of policies and strategies to reduce energy use and promote energy efficiency in the healthcare sector. CleanMed Europe 2016 Day Two Round-Up

[October 21] The sun came out in Copenhagen for Day 2 of CleanMed Europe 2016 as 250 delegates gathered for the continuation of the conference at the UN City. The day began with the Morning Plenary - Building a global network to transform health systems, where Nick Thorp, GGHH Global Community Manager with Health Care Without Harm moderated a fascinating session about the value of building a network to transfer health systems. HCWH Europe Launches Safer Pharma Campaign at CleanMed Europe 2016

[October 20] During the second day of CleanMed Europe 2016, in the UN City of Copenhagen, Health Care Without Harm Europe announced the launch of their new Safer Pharma campaign. The Safer Pharma campaign aims to challenge the pharmaceutical industry to take action to reduce their environmental impacts, raise awareness amongst healthcare professionals about the problems associated with pharmaceuticals in the environment, and help citizens to understand what they can do to minimize pharmaceuticals in the environment. CleanMed Europe 2016 Day One Round-Up

[October 20] On the first day of CleanMed Europe 2016, we welcomed our 250 participants, coming from 26 countries and 5 continents we came together to discuss and plan strategies around sustainable healthcare during Europe’s leading conference on the issue. The conference kicked off with a range of preconference events at four hospitals in Copenhagen and also a tour of the UN City building. Global Green and Healthy Hospitals (GGHH) also hosted its first community meeting in Europe this morning, with representatives from hospitals and health systems from Taiwan, Australia, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, and Germany.
